Ibo Island Lodge is located on the prime waterfront site where romantic dhows sail out to sea on each high tide. The lodge encompasses magnificent mansions, each over one hundred years old, with coral and lime walls over a metre thick, high lofty ceilings and original beams. Ibo Island is a potential World Heritage Site and, therefore, the rooms have been designed to incorporate the architecture and the style of the original ruins. The lodge accommodates guests in beautifully elegant, yet simple rooms, with indigenous solid teak and mahogany furniture, handcrafted by the people of Ibo.
All nine bedrooms are individual and feature a king size 4-poster, or twin hand-crafted bed, with crisp cotton linen. In keeping with the historical Indian influence on Ibo, the beds are covered in Indian silk throws. Bathrooms are all en suite, with twin basins and large marble showers. All rooms have ceiling fans and air conditioning. Wide verandahs are a traditional feature of all Ibo buildings, but we widened ours considerably to house comfortable plantation-style chairs, with soft cushions from which guests can enjoy drinks and make the very most of either the sea or garden views.
