Welcome on board
Thursday, 1 August 2024
Rise and shine to a warm welcome from our crew as you check in during the early morning hours and settle into your elegant floating home for the days ahead.
Bienvenue to Phnom Penh, a city once celebrated as the "Paris of the East." Though it has embraced modernization, the capital still holds onto its old-world grace and understated charm. With centuries of history woven into its streets, Phnom Penh offers a cultural depth that reveals itself at nearly every turn.
Following breakfast, our full-day city exploration kicks off with a scenic cyclo ride through the bustling streets, offering a unique perspective on daily life here. We'll then visit landmark sites including the Royal Palace and the dazzling Silver Pagoda. The tour continues to Tuol Sleng, the former S21 prison—a sobering reminder of Cambodia's tragic past under the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s.
After a satisfying lunch in the city, we'll head to the Sosoro Museum, one of the nation's premier institutions dedicated to preserving Cambodian history. Our day wraps up with a relaxed walk through the charming French Quarter, ending at the picturesque Wat Phnom—the hilltop temple that gave the city its name.
As evening falls, join us in the lounge for an enlightening lecture from one of our onboard experts. The day culminates in style with an open-air barbecue and gala dinner, set to the graceful rhythms of a traditional Apsara dance performance. Afterward, the night is yours—venture out to experience Phnom Penh's lively after-dark scene or simply enjoy a peaceful stroll along the riverside promenade.
